Hi Dale,

I'm a little confused by your post. How did you you get an upgrade if your
modem isn't listed on the site. Is this a brand new modem or one you bought
at a show or from someone else? I looked at the 3com site and didn't see
that modem # listed at all. Most USR modems have more digits in their
number. Is this an external or internal? Did you get the product number
off the modem itself? There is a whole list of steps to go through to
upgrade to V90. I did it a couple of weeks ago.

You certainly shouldn't run just any upgrade on your modem; it will destroy
it.

I think there is a toll free number. From this page:
http://www.3com.com/56k/usr/upgrade/muw.html

I got this information. "If you are unclear about whether or not your modem
can be upgraded from the Modem Update Wizard, please go to the online
Upgrade Advisor, or call the 3Com Upgrade Center at 1-888-492-6856."

The process involves downloading a upgrade wizard from the site and then
letting it call a download number to get the upgrade for your particular
model. When you run the upgrade you get information as to the results that
look like this:

U.S. Robotics 56K FAX INT V4.9.1

Configuration Profile...

Product type US/Canada
Product ID: 00178701

Fax Options Class 1/Class 2.0
Line Options Caller ID, Distinctive Ring
Clock Freq 92.0Mhz
EPROM 256k
RAM 32k

FLASH date 2/24/98
FLASH rev 4.9.1

DSP date 2/24/98
DSP rev 4.9.1

Serial Number: 00178701000000E00607190F0014
Device ID: 00178701

Do a little more investigaton at the site and maybe you'll find something or
give them a call.
