I'm from Illinois, so I can only answer some of your questions:

Sherbet is a mixture of ice cream and sorbet. Contains milk.
We only have home-made cookies. I heard it's relatively easy to bring baked
food over, as long as it's for personal consumption. I substitute rice
crackers or chips for cookies out. Also bring potatoes to eat. (meat if
there's no long wait. Even resturaunts that say ' no outside food' I've had
no problem bringing food in for the kids. keep antihistamine handy, write
out on a card the medical info and carry with you all times.

My son eats the salsa with  potato chips when we go to a mexican
resturaunt. At a chinese resuraunt, he has the made- in - house ribs. Mc
Donalds hamburger patties. try to go to non- chain resturaunts, they are
more likely to make- from-scratch and know the ingredients. Most
resturaunts are just recently learning about peanut allergies, and don't
know dairy- like that cheese is made from milk.
There was a Luigi's Italian ice I bought at the grocery store that I think
was milk-free- comes in small bowls wrapped in a box.
