I am a novice at pc building and just installed a second hard drive and
installed a new 64meg sdram. I had all kinds of faults and illegal
operations notices in about anything I tried to do with my system. After a
couple of days I decided it had to be either the new hard drive or the
memory. I put my old simms back in and everything worked perfect. My MB is
a Spacewalker Hot 557 Award Modular Bios v4.51PG. This board supports 2
banks of 72 pin simms or 2 sockets of 168 pin dimms but it only shows in
the chart using 32 meg dimms and doesn't mention being able to use a single
64 meg dimm. I went to their Web site and found a upgrade file for the MB
and a manual for it. Downloaded the manual and read it, but it stated the
same specs on the memory. When I had the Sdram in, it read the full 64 megs
on post. I don't know if the memory is working intermittingly or the board
is not able to use the 64 meg single. Anybody familar with this board that
has some suggestions would be more than welcome. Thanks in advance.
