So many people have e-mailed asking more about Leonidas Chocolate
that I am posting it on the List.
I was in Brussels a few days ago, and personally went to the
Leonidas store to check if they were gluten-free or not. But of course
they were, said the store manager. He seemed very surprised that
anybody would even question it. He said that Leonidas had NEVER made
any chocolates that were not GF; furthermore, the very thought of
using flour to dust the line was enough to make him shudder - that, he
said emphatically, would destroy the taste.
All the chocolates are made in Belgium, and flown in once a week,
which is why they are so expensive (but utterly divine). Here in New
York, they are available at expensive department stores and the
Chelsea Market.
To order them, call 1-800-BRUSSELS, or for more information go to
          http://www.choicemall.com/leonidas/
Another listmember, Tracey, reminded me that Teuescher chocolates
are just as good as Leonidas, and just as expensive. She researched
them exhaustively, and yes, they are GF. They, too, are flown in every
week from Brussels. For more information, go to
          http://teuscherhouston.com/
and click on Teuscher information for a list of stores and how to
order by mail.
                                 Regards,
