PETER:

As we discussed on the telephone, Monona Terrace is in the process of creating a support group called Friends of Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center, Inc. This group will support the goals of Monona Terrace by raising funds for special needs, increasing our endowment fund, providing community programming and creating a volunteer base.

The Board will be composed of 21 members of the community and committees will be put in place after the initial organizational meeting, which we hope will be in early April. The individuals who serve as Board members and on committees will reflect the diversity of those who attend events at Monona Terrace and of the City of Madison and Dane County.

Your assistance in providing us with names of potential Board and committee members would be most appreciated. Staff at Monona Terrace will compile a list of names for Board membership that will then be presented to the Monona Terrace Board for its approval.

We believe that the time commitment involved could be as much or as little as someone would want to make it. The Board bylaws provide for quarterly meetings. Committees would probably meet more frequently, depending upon the activities at the time. Officers of the Board would, of course, be making a commitment beyond the quarterly meetings.

Many thanks for your assistance. If you have any questions, please call me at 261-4067.

NANCY
