That's not very meaningful if you define human being to mean member of
the speceies Homo sapien.  Also, if we meet intelligent life from

I don't think Europeans and descendents of Europeans are "folkloric"
categories.  On the other hand, it is hard to see how "those who would
keep us fighting with each other" could be anything but a folkloric
category.

But, assuming it isn't, since I am forced to accept that all Homo
sapiens are human beings, I have to take everyone's interests into
account to find "our own common interests", including the interests of
the human beings in the non-folkloric category "those who would keep
us fighting with each other."

I don't see a way to do that and come out with anything useful.  I'll
bet you do, though.
