No, they definately had allergies, or at least sensitivities.

I didn't say a low carb diet was unnatural, although I still favor a
carbohydrate centered diet. I think what we've learned at this site, and
I've learned in practice that specific carbohydrate foods (gluten) are
problems for many. We see it over and over again. To say that the
elimination, or decrease in ALL carbohydrate foods is the way to go may
or may not be true.

I didn't call a low carbohydrate diet risky, although I think a high
protein diet is. I'm more concerned with what a patient is eating, not
what they are not eating. I'm not really an intellectual like you Ilya (I
admire you for it). I'm more of a show and tell guy. When you remove a
food and symptoms abate, and the symptoms come back when you reintroduce
that food, then don't eat that food.

I'm not trying to defeat anyone's arguement. I just take issue with
people who say don't consider allergy in diabetes because I've only seen
two cases. You advise people to stick with a low carb diet, even people
who have high blood sugar on that diet. Many cases of diabetes are solved
with a low carb diet, and many are not. Don't advise those who don't
respond to stick with the program when it's not working.

He wrote Dr. Mandell's Five Day Allergy Relief System and discusses
diabetes at length. Also check out How to Control Your Allergies by
Robert Foreman.
