Two products which the companies took time to check thoroughly for me:

(1.) Westbrae Natural Foods miso (800-769-6455)

All 3 of their MELLOW misos (brown, red, white) they say are definately GF,
cultered in rice.
Dist: Westbrae N. F.; Carson, CA 90746; USA (Product of Canada)

When Westbrae called me back, they also mentioned "labels don't always tell
of a fermentation with barley for tamari, so I called:

(2.) San-J International, Inc. (800-446-5500)

I was told San-J tamari ("wheat free soy sauce" on label), gold label=
regular, platinum label= lower sodium, and their salad dressings containing
wf tamari are all GF. Also they mentioned a Web site:
            http://www.infi.net/~sanj

And are sending me recipes to substitute tamari in sauces, etc.

The flavor is excellent, I'm used to Kikkoman, and find this a good GF subs.

Their address: 2880 Sprouse Drive; Richmond, VA 23231; USA
Subsidiary of San-Jirushi; Kuwana, Japan.
