oh there are many ways.
you could use a clothespin, but this does not work very well.

i know of only a few blind people who can really drive a nail.
the method that hard core blind handypeople use is the double tap.
start the nail by tapping it lightly until it will stay in place by 
itself,
then, hold the nail with your fingers.
tap the hammer gently on the nail.
kind of lining up for the real strike,
then quickly pull your fingers away and swing the hammer again harder.
and if it is a really bit nail, a lot harder.
i have driven thousands of nails and am a total and still have all my 
fingers, but be aware, there is no second chance if you crush your thumb.

you have to believe you can do it,  and have confidence in your strength..
if you hold back you will never drive it straight.
but i have a lifetime of practice.

another method is to drill a small hole called a pilot hole. the nail will 
follow the hole and is much easier to drive in.
use a drill bit that is half the diameter of the nail.
this works very well with delicate wood that may split or if you have to 
hammer in a weird or confined place.
don't drill down longer than the nail, more like halfway.

the thing with this is that it is almost impossible to find the hole again 
if you loose track of it.
keep maybe a brailing stylus or toothpick around to stick into the hole as 
soon as you drill it.

, as long as you are drilling a hole you may as well just use a screw.
in this case choose a drill bit that if you hold it against the screw you 
can just feel that the screw threads are just a bit wider than the drill 
bit.
then drill in almost the length of the screw.
