Hi Mike!

Cheat CW? Now that's a laugh. The only way to copy CW is between your ears.
It isn't going to copy it for you, hi hi. If it's something that I need to
record, I could always bring up Word or find space to fit a Perkins on top
of the tower case.

I'm not using the USB device to do my keying. I'm simply using the built in
keyer in the RC Forb application. The biggest problem with it is it lacks
the comma because that char is missing from the key map.

When I made the recording, I disconnected my headset in order to use the
speakers so that what I heard would be recorded. My preferred headset these
days is a Heil Pro set Media, which includes a boom microphone, so that's
what folks are hearing when I'm on SSB or AM.

I'm running Jaws version 16.0.4463 under Windows 7 pro, and the PC uses
Ethernet to have internet. If I need a backup screen reader, NVDA and System
Access are also available, but my tesing there hasn't shown me any
difference, so generally stick with Jaws because it is more dependable.

In order to transmit CW, The rig requires the same RS232 keying interface
that most contest programmes use so if you've done much contesting, you
probably have that running from the rig to the PC already. If you don't, it
is a pretty simple project to get one together.

The set-up at K0LR is includes the described interface, an Icom IC756 pro
into a G5RV. I should be able to adjust the CW speed, but so far, my
attempts at doing that have failed even though Jaws has led me to believe I
have done it. If someone asks me to QRS, I can just add more spacing to
accommodate the slower processor *lol* The lack of proof is always in what I
hear in result.

73,
Dave

Subject: Remote Hams questions

Hi David:

I didn't get a chance to listen to the full remote hams tutorial but what I
heard so far wasn't to bad and really quite interesting.
What flavor of windows and screen reader are ya runnin'? Do you have the USB
device connected to allow CW or is the entire operation handled by the
remote station and you have a simple chat headset connected to your PC's USB
or line in if you wanted to use phone?
Is the client a separate piece of software installed or are you going
through the web interface? Can you cheat CW? LOL In other words have the
incoming CW txt spoken? Lastly, what's the Transceiver, amplifier and
antennas your connecting too?
