I haven't actually heard this mic or any other studio grade mic with out the benefit of outboard processing gear etc.
I was comparing the frequency response of the various ones in my budget, Shure PGA-58, Sennheiser E-835, Behringer XM-1800 and Electrovoice 635A brodcast mic, to the Heil brod range element in the Gold Elite. This element has a frequency response of 60HZ to 15 or 16KHZ. So I didn't think that the shure, Sennheiser would still sound muddy due to its wider response.
Plus my FT-102 has roll off pots accessible through the bottom of the cabinet. That said though it might be better to go with the Heil HMM as I already have the AD1 cable kit an all I'll have to do is plug it in and go. It has a response of 80HZ to 15KHZ, the same response of my Yaesu MD-1B8.
