IF you switch bands it usually,l with most radios, will go to the last mode 
you were in. If you were in CW on 75 meters, go to 40 meters SSB, then go 
back to 75 meters it will still be in CW. That's how that usually works, I 
can't say for the 590, never had one by the time I afford one it will 
probably be very long on the used market.
