Harry,
I'm going to answer both of your Firefox questions in one message:
1. firefox saves your downloads to your Downloads folder, so you
shouldn't have to change anything.
If you want to change where downloads go, launch Firefox, press Alt+t
for Tools, up-arrow to Options, and press enter. Inside the Options
area, up/down-arrow to General; then tab repeatedly until you get to a
set of items connected to downloads. Press enter on the Browse button,
and browse to the location you want. Remember to press enter on OK
before exiting Firefox Options.
2. to open web links with firefox, set Firefox as your default browser.
To do this, launch Firefox, press Alt+t for Tools, up-arrow to Options,
and press enter. Inside the Options area, up/down-arrow to Advanced, tab
once, then up/down-arrow to General. After that, tab repeatedly until
you get to a checkbox that says something like, "On startup, make sure
firefox is your default browser." Check that. Then tab to and press
enter on OK.
That should work. With some providers and clients, IE is brought up
automatically, but for most, this is good enough.
Ciao
