With a back yard that is 50 yards wide and 30 yards deep, you have several
excellent relatively low-cost choices. I would seriously consider a full
wave 75 meter loop in a Delta Loop configuration. You have enough room to
make each leg about 90 feet by angling it to each of your back corners. You
can use Dacron ropes and pulleys to elevate it up into position and secure
it to whatever you can as anchor points. It does not have to be in a perfect
triangle configuration, and if you feed it at the apex and make that feed
point at the center of the back of our house, it should work quite well for
you. With the tuner in the TS-590, you should be able to load up on all
bands with good results. If you want more information and a good source for
obtaining a ready-made loop antenna with matching balloon, write back, and I
will send it to you. Alternatively, I would recommend one of the several
excellent vertical antennas on the market that cover all bands from 40
through 6 meters. Then, for 75 meters, I highly recommend a Double Bazooka,
for which I have the detailed constructions instructions if you are
interested. For best results, the vertical requires a set of radials, the
more, the better, positioned symmetrically around and away from the base of
the vertical.
