That's correct.  So the incentive is to work the bands where your station 
performs the best at the times you plan to operate, and mostly go to 10 or 
15 meters for the most distant multipliers.  There are now 83 multipliers, 
because last year Ontario was divided into four sections.

You give out a serial number.
A "precedence" which is A for 150 watts or less, B for higher power, Q for
QRP, U for unlimited (using packet spotting or the CW skimmer), M for
multi-op, or S for school club station.
Your callsign.
Last two digits of your year of first license.
Your ARRL section.

So the exchange I transmit looks like
136 B W3IUU 55 MDC

It's more to write down, but it is in many ways better than the typical
exchange in a DX contest where everyone is 599 regardless of how weak their
signal is.
The N1MM logging program, and perhaps others, is set up so you can hit the
spacebar between these fields.  If they are done correctly, the computer can
parse the entry and log it.
