I am curious which mic and rig you have. I would suggest a product called hi marks. it is designed specifically for marking appliances safely. it is also removable without residue if you later sell the mic and rig. sticky things tend to come off and leave residue that gums up the buttons very easily., and hi marks doesn't come off easily when touched. it is also much easier to feel hi marks because it is similar to glue and dries quickly. you can put what is about the size of a braille dot on the buttons if you wish.
73 and good luck
