Hi there. This is Brent. I've been listening on the list for awhile, but
haven't posted much. I've been a technician licensed ham for a long time,
but the repeater where I live isn't really within HT transmit range, but
that's another subject. On this accessibility of QST, I hope something good
comes out of it. I did get an ARRL membership one year awhile ago, but took
the blind one with the discount, just because I thought I wouldn't want to
do that much scanning, and magazines don't come out of the OCR that well at
times. I don't believe it was descrimination or anything like that, they
offered this one for blind people who were fine with going without QST
and/or CQ magazine, but you could take the full package if you wanted it. If
it helps any, I heard that the platform these two amateur radio publications
were going to go with is called Zinio. I'm not sure on how much the
accessibility is up to the ARRL and how much is up to Zinio's technology. I
wish I could find a free publication on there to try out and see what Jaws
will do.
