Hi Steve,
     I appreciate your kind instructions. When I locate  the menu 9 option
and then press menu again, the radio leaves the menu system. Someone
mentioned that I might need to plug in the cable but I have not had a chance
to try this yet. It is troublesome not being able to access the sub-menu
though. Do you have any ideas why the sub-menu does not appear?

Mark,

Once you locate the SP Mic menu item (which is number 9, by the way), press 
the joystick once and rotate the tuning knob two clicks to the right.  Then 
press the joystick again and move it left to exit the menus.  When you're 
done programming the radio, press the joystick to activate the menus, press 
it again, turn the tuning knob one click to the right, press the joystick 
again, then move it to the left to close the menus.
