Wow, Steve, this does sound like a great idea!

Can't imagine why I hadn't heard of it before!

May just have to see what I can scrape together here to purchase one.

Thanks for the great explanation!

Tom,

The RCA14 is a metal box with 14 RCA jacks on the front, and 3 DIN
connectors on the back. By connecting one of the supplied cables to a DIN
connector on the back of the box, you can bring the pins of various DIN
connectors on your radio out to the RCA jacks on the front of the box.
Thus, you can conveniently use various pins on the connectors without having
to make up cables. You could, for example, connect a foot switch to your
480 and run a mic mixer or other special effects box into the radio's audio
chain bypassing the mic preamp. Or, you could connect a tape recorder to
the radio's fixed audio output, which also shows up on one of the DIN
connectors. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination and
understanding of the various connections. Since the box can be connected to
just about any DIN connector on any modern radio, it is, in my opinion, well
worth the $50 it costs. Although I don't use mine every day, I'm very glad
I have it.

Steve
