Further on to Dean's post, I've noticed that my Comcast fiber cable internet connection runs at 10 mbs while my home network (ethernet) is running at Gbps (or so the system tray icons indicate when I float my mouse over them).

BTW, my internet connection is max 1.5mbs.  I doubt that very many home 
connections are capable of 54 much less 100, but I have no facts to back 
that up.
