John,

I hope you don't take what I am about to write the wrong way,  
but...If you think your daughter is having a hard time learning in  
school, don't assume you will be able to do a better job of it  
homeschooling.  It may be easier now, but over time as content gets  
more involved and time commitments increase you really have to be  
sure you want to do this for the long haul.  Yes, I agree that  
schools will be resistant to accommodations, but if you fight for her  
rights, there is so much Mary can gain from being in public school  
that homeschooling will not give her, that in my opinion, is even  
more critical for her than some academic skills.  She needs to learn  
how to navigate the world and deal socially with others, deal with  
teasing, explaining her disability and "making it" in the normal day- 
to-day of life.  So, I would fight with the school because in the  
long run it will be easier than trying to procure all she needs  
yourself AND keep academics high.
