Yes, it is true that Christians are not vegetarian in any greater proportion than the general population unless it is a certain 'sect' or group.  Seventh-day Adventist are Christians who are vegetarians.
 
By the way John Harvey Kellogg, who started the breakfast cereal company was a Seventh-day Adventist. You may remember the book and the movie "The Road to Wellville" which was a somewhat fictionalized story about John Harvey Kellogg.

I am a former vegetarian and now a Christian.  I think that being a vegetarian may be appropriate for some individuals.
John Kellogg lived to be 91.  George Bernard Shaw another well known vegan lived to be 94.
 
But I find paleo to be better for me. At least my modified version of paleo.  My modification is not that far off.  I follow most of Loren Cordain's recommendations but I find having a light evening meal that does not include meat works best for me to lose weight.
