By definition then, you are not running a G5RV.
It should be the top with 34 feet of open wire.
Is your ladder line home brew open wire or commercially available stuff
which is likely to be either 450 or 300 ohm?
What is the ratio of the balun?
I think that you are using some sort of doublet rather than a G5RV and that
the variations induced by making it lower at its ends than in the centre
would be catered for in your existing tuner.

itself to a balun running 50ft of rg9 cable to the shack.
