Hi Tom.
I don't have a formula for you, but can tell you that I had good results
with a double scalled version at 37 ft. in an inverted vee with the ends
about 7 ft off the ground. Worked well on everything except 10 meters,
where it was deaf as a stone--a good 20 db down from listening to the same
signal on an 80 meter dipole. I used a one quarter watt beacon that was
1.3 miles from my house for the comparison measurements on ten meters.
Anyway, it seemed like the inverted vee was a little easier to load than
the flat top configuration. The caveat of course would be that G5RV-type
antennas are tricky antennas that are affected by a number of factors, so
your mileage may vary!
