    Holly:

Congratulations to both you and your husband on passing the tech test. You
are about to enter a hobby filled with lots of fun and interesting people,
and we're glad to have you on this list.

As for radio recommendations, you will get many suggestions here, but, for
starters, a good recommendation for an accessible HT would be either a
Kenwood THF6A, or an Icom t90A.

You can check out the Kenwood and Icom web sites for more details on each
radio.

As for mobile rigs, Kenwood rigs seem to be the best and most accessible.
If you can find a TMV7A, that'd be great, although they aren't making them
any more.

Another possibility would be the Kenwood TMv708A, or the Kenwood TMD700A,
although the latter radio is a bit pricy in my opinion. These mobile radios
have voice read-outs, and lots of other ways to orient yourself to the
various menu selections.

The HT's don't have voice read-outs for frequencies and such, although the
Icom T90A has a CW read-out for frequency if you know the Morse code. The
HT's though, do have enough beeps and the like that you can orient yourself
to the radio and where you are in the menus with a little bit of learning.

These are just some rough suggestions, and I'm sure others will have more.

73 and congratulations again from Tom Behler: KB8TYJ, Big Rapids, MI
