William, I love ya, man. You are intense. Even if you were a little hard
on Robert.

Like that H G Well's story about the one-eyed man in the kingdom of the
blind. Contrary to the proverb, the hero does not become the
king. Instead, he is considered insane and gets locked up by a mob of
blind people.

A few days ago I decided to taste a small piece of a chocolate chip
cookie. They used to be one of my very favorite foods (pre paleo, of
course). The bittersweet chocolate tasted good, but the rest of it -
bleagh - it was like there was a lump of DOUGH in my mouth! It was just
... a gross lump of STUFF. I could not bring myself to swallow this
obnoxious lump. I spit it into the trash and I found myself saying out
loud "That's not food!"

Robert has a point about accumulated tolerance vis-a-vis gradual
toxification, and he's right. But it is not impossible to work
around. The trick is elimination and reintroduction (which is what I
believe you were alluding to). Yes for years you can eat wheat & sugar and
consciously feel no ill effects. (Especially if you started - like most of
us did - before you were old enough to recognize or articulate your
earliest reactions, too young to even *remember* them decades later). But
here's the point: Once you remove them completely from your diet -
consistently for weeks or months - and then try to re-introduce them again,
your body's intuition has a way of figuring it out and reminding you -
usually pretty quickly.
