Susan Hinderaker’s new "Gluten-Free Family Favorites" Cookbook...one of 
our members actually wrote and published a cookbook.  This is wonderful in 
itself but on top of this, she is donating all proceeds to the University 
of Chicago Celiac Disease Program!  Of course, I try to support anything 
and everything related to celiac but I really didn’t expect the cookbook 
to be so wonderful!  The book is only $20 (+$6 for shipping) and it’s over 
200 pages.  It is bound in a spiral that makes flipping the pages and 
viewing it very easy.  When I scanned the recipes in each of the section 
overviews, they really look like "family" meals.  The best part, though, 
is that all the recipes look very simple and easy to make!  So, if you are

When my sons were diagnosed with Celiac in 2001, we began putting together 
this cookbook.  The purpose of the book is to provide a resource to those 
with Celiac Disease or gluten intolerance who want to offer great tasting 
meals to their entire family.  My philosophy in choosing the recipes was 
to think about how to prepare meals with a limited number of "special" 
ingredients.  For example, my recipe for meatloaf doesn’t call for any 
breadcrumbs.  We include a good selection of recipes for desserts, coffee 
cake and banana bread, but chose to concentrate on meals you can serve at 
home rather than concentrating on baked goods.   

No one can go on the gluten-free diet without getting help and support 
from others.  We appreciate the help given to us by organizations such as 
CSA, the Philadelphia Celiac Support Group (especially Phyllis Brogden and 
the "Food Chain Gang") and the Delphi Celiac Disease Online Support 
Group.  Many thanks to Janet Kline for helping me publicize the cookbook 
on the Charlotte Celiac Connection website.  In publishing the cookbook, 
we hope to help other families by making meal planning easier.  We hope 
that you will enjoy sharing these dishes with you family and friends.
