Years ago I inherited a dog from the neighbors when they moved to Chicago.
His name was Amigo; they were vegetarians and fed him a veg diet also. I
used to throw bones to him so needless to say he thought I was great.
Anyhow he was a very smart dog. We lived on a street that was a walk street
so it had a large sidewalk with houses on both sides and alleys behind the
houses to get to the garage. Pretty safe for toddlers. Even so one day my
two year old son (now Case's father) ran down the block and was about to
run into the street when I saw him and freaked out. Amigo darted down the
street and grabbed the back of his shirt with his teeth and pulled him back
from the street to safety. I stood all amazed. Dogs are wonderful additions
to family life. I am thinking of getting another one.
