I can't speak much about the 706-Mark2G, however the receive in the ts2k is
very adequate. Now if you asked me to compare the ts2k and the icom 746
Pro, I'd have to tell you that I think the 746-pro has a much better
receiver because of more possibilities with regard to to digital filtering,
and many more options as far as that is concerned. You can't do much, even
with the software available for the 746-pro like get in too and change the
menu's, not all of them anyway, so in that regard, the ts2k wins with regard
to accessability, however if you're willing to live with the lack of access
for the 746-pro, if I were to do it again, I'd probably get another one.
