I'm only paying it every other year, 1 major upgrade a year and a few other
minor ones in between.

It's funny that I'm paying $120.00 about once a year. It is for two
upgrades. So, if they want to send you two major upgrades in six months,
they can do it and there you go. It used to be per year but they changed it
several years ago to 2 major upgrades.
