I manage to set the PL tones in the 706 alright, it's not the best way but I
go off to a side frequency, and then I turn on the PL tone, put an HT or
something on the same frequency with the same pL needed for receive and just
tune through the PL's while keyed up and when the HT picks up, I found it
and then I put the frequency in memory and forget it. Not really the best
way to do it but as I said, it works, a decent program for memory
programming from a computer would be a huge help there but I don't use it on
VHF/UHF very much anyway, I don't notice major intermod on 2 meters but it's
definitely a problem but my old Icom 2100H had the same problem when I had
repeaters close in frequency which is why I like the TM-G707A I use now,
absolutely no problems with intermod at all and I have a much better and
higher antenna than I ran up to last year.

Subject: Re: TS-480S vs. IC-746 Pro

Hello to all.

I am curious how users of the Icom IC746 Pro manage the PL tones. That is
the one thing that I haven't been able to handle with the IC706 MkII
G. Hence, my '706 gets used on HF, but not VHF/UHF where PL is required in
my area. Sort of defeats the purpose of buying the radio.
