Many, many thanks for your prompt and helpful responses! I've
summarized the results below. Given that Dr. Cynthia Rudert (by far the
most frequently recommended) doesn't take insurance, and I've just been
laid off and am pretty strapped financially, I'll probably not be able
to see her. I will check with her to see if she has a sliding fee
schedule, however.

Again, thanks and best regards,
Suzanne

1. Dr. Cynthia Rudert, MD (13 recommendations), a Celiac specialist,
one of the best, who unfortunately doesn't accept insurance. Near
Northside Hospital/Perimeter Mall/Roswell area. (404) 943-9820. 5555
Peachtree Dunwoody Rd., Suite 312, Atlanta 30342.

"She usually has a long wait time to get in, but she's very thorough and understanding."
"Has a very large celiac patient list and is all around wonderful -- totally listens to patients. "
"She is one of the most knowledgeable doctors in the COUNTRY on celiac disease along with Fasano, Green and Murray."
"Thirty-three members of the Gluten Sensitive Support Group in Atlanta use Dr. Rudert as their gastroenterologist. "
"She spoke at a celiac conference and was awesome!! "
"She has spoken all over the country at various celiac conferences...You will love her."

2. Dr. Janet Rudert (1 recommendation; probably the same doctor as
Cynthia Rudert)

3. Dr. Agnes Han (1 recommendation), a gastroenterologist (accepts
insurance)

4. Bernadette Saviano, PhD (1 recommendation), a celiac expert. (404)
531-0900

"she studied for several years with endocrinologists in Piedmont, and she works with doctors, with their chemo
patients - making sure they eat right, take the right supplements, etc. I know - I was one last summer!
She keeps up with all of the latest gene testing, and it drives her crazy that some doctors look only for one blood test or gene type, when there are lots of markers for celiac."

5. Dr. Dale Holly (1 recommendation); (404) 351-9512

"one of the best I've seen. A friend of mine drives all the way from here in Jackson, Tenn., to Atlanta to see him. I've seen him once and would return if I could afford the trip. You wouldn't believe the care my friend gets, and he is intelligent enough to know the patient knows more about what's going on in his or her own body than the doctor does. He
listens very attentively and is very well read."

6. Dr. Diane Wisebram (2 recommendations); (404) 252-9307. 980 Johnson
Ferry Rd., NE, Suite 820, Atlanta GA 30342.
"Dr. Diane Wisebram is used by four of our members [the Gluten Sensitive
Support Group in Atlanta]"
"She was incredible. I was sick for two years before going to see her...
Honestly, she is fabulous! I have yet to find another as great as she was!"

7. Dr. George Avant, at The Vanderbilt Clinic in Nashville, TN (1
recommendation)
