Recently a friend asked me what I thought about supplementing the diet
with Omega-3. This is not a bad idea considering that grain-fed meats
and other processed, fast foods today contain high levels of Omega-6
(some ratios are 25:1 in favor of the Omega-6). So in that case the
supplementation with Omega-3 is necessary in order to get closer to the
"ideal" ratio of 1:1 Omega-3 to Omega-6.

On the other hand, grass-fed and wild animals and range free chickens
and eggs, etc., contain a more balanced ratio. Some grass-fed meats are
about 0.15 to 1 in favor of the Omega-3 and some deep sea fish have more
like 2 or 3 to 1 in favor of the omega-6. If grain-fed meats and/or
junk food are being eaten then the Omega-3 supplementation is not a bad
idea. But if you are eating balanced foods in the first place then
Omega-3 supplementation is really not needed.

Regards,
