Live Web Conference on My 20 Years of Distance Learning, June 17

If you already registered for this event, I cannot e-mail you login
information as I promised. Believe it or not, I spilled coffee into my
laptop and cannot retrieve your registration information, but I have login
info for everyone at the bottom of this message.

Distance learning, e-learning, blended or hybrid learning has recently
become the current rage. However, it did exist even before there was a
World Wide Web. Believe it or not, I became involved with it while PC
computers were still running the DOS operating system. In 1989, Zenith
awarded me the Master of Innovation Award, and in 1990, I was chosen the
New York State CASE Professor of the Year both for work in distance
learning. In those days, we were lonely pioneers, and, at the beginning, I
was already advocating to make distance learning fully accessible to users
with disabilities. In fact, I was demonstrating, that, when accessible, it
held many advantages for this special population.

Join me online on June 17 at 1 PM Eastern time while I share experiences
and lessons from my 20 years of online teaching. I will describe some of
the changes that has come through new technologies. I will discuss how
these changes impact online teaching possibilities and I will talk about
how the changes impact accessibility for people with disabilities. This
live presentation will be both a trip through the past as well as a
discussion of best practice online learning in 2004. Finally, because it
takes place in an interactive voice chat room, you will be able to 1,
listen to me, 2 watch Web pages I push and discuss and 3 you can add your
own voice or text comments and questions. The system we are using requires
you run Windows and Explorer version 6, have a sound card, speakers and if
you want to talk, you need a mic.

*** Note, if you are interested in the availability of a MAC version of
this conference software, please e-mail that information to George Buys at
