I wanted to follow up to my previous post on alkaline/acid foods with
some personal observations about my diet that might be helpful.

I pretty much follow the "Primal Diet" espoused by Aajonus
Vonderplanitz. I'm not pushing that diet, but certain aspects of it
have been very helpful to me. For one, juicing celery (70%), parsley
(15%) and cucumber (15%) with a little whole lime is a great drink and a
strong alkaline-forming one at that. When I drink that I feel very much
more alert, clear-headed, strong, etc. It has become my "fix" each
morning and throughout the day (about 1.5 quart a day). It definitely
counters the acid foods I eat - I can feel that working. I can highly
recommend at least temporarily trying that juice to help re-balance the
body. Long ago a Naturopath said I should try HCL and have way more
dark green vegetables in my diet to be more alkaline (and she showed me
why through a live blood exam). Well that was a dismal failure and
caused more stomach uneasiness and indigestion for me. The raw juice
doesn't have any of those drawbacks. I suspect it was the excess
cellulose that is hard to digest (or maybe it isn't digested at all...?).

Since I also eat red meat, I find that lamb is much less acid-forming
than beef and that quail and duck eggs less acid than chicken's eggs.

Finally, I now regularly eat fruits and snack on some alkaline veggies
like radishes, etc.

Regards,
