I have read Neanderthin and am re-reading parts of it now. I noticed that
many people here have also read Cordain's The Paleo Diet. Is it much
different and would you recommend reading it in addition to Neanderthin?

I have several health problems I would like to resolve with diet and
supplements. One, I still have a parasite called blastocystis hominis. I
just learned that my morning PH is supposed to be at least 6.5 consistently
before I can even address the parasites with herbs. Supposedly when the ph
is in this range it means that oxygen is in the tissues and it drives the
parasites into the GI tract which is where you want to kill them. Whether
this is true or not I have no idea.

I looked through the archives but did not find much on acidity/alkalinity
except for a few posts back in May 2004. Could I be eating too much protein,
not enough veggies? I am so confused. How much protein are some of the women
in this group eating every day compared to how much protein?

About a month ago I started supplementing with HCl and that has helped
greatly with digestion and not feeling so miserable after eating. I assume
that 18 months of a lack of HCl and therefore not digesting my food properly
has cause quite a few problems in my body.

Although I have had a hysterectomy last year (and now wish I had not) and
only have one ovary remaining, I still go through 2 weeks of PMS, then have
about a 28 to 35 day break before the next 2 weeks hit me. The PMS is severe
and life interrupting - I have little or no energy to do things after work,
my lower back feels like it will break in half, I retain tons of water, my
abdomen sticks out like I am pregnant, the mood swings are horrible, breast
tenderness...you get the picture. Shouldn't paleo help with this?

So back to my original question...should I read The Paleo Diet? Could it
shed some light on the problems I am experiencing? Are there other books you
would recommend specifically addressing the problems mentioned? How can
paleo help with acidity/alkalinity, PMS, and digestion overall? Am I just
expecting results too fast? Are any of the other women here experiencing PMS
and if so, has it gotten better with paleo?

Sorry for all the questions but I am just tired of feeling sick and tired
and want to do what ever I can to get my health back. Any input is greatly
appreciated. If your answers will be too far off topic please reply to me
directly - like I said, any input is greatly, greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Kristina
