Hi,

Number 6 is kinda difficult. It's the balance control, and I'm not
clear how many steps it has in which directions. I just left it as was
with both bands at roughly the same volume level.

Number 3, conversely, is easy. Low beep is the A band (the ham bands
only receiver), and the high beep is B band (the general coverage
receiver). Generally, I only use one at a time unless I have a need to
listen to two freqs at once, mostly force of habit, partly for battery
conservation. Anyway, whichever receiver is active is the frequency
you'll transmit on if both receivers are in a ham band. For instance,
let's say you have your A receiver on 146.94 and your B receiver on
444.875 (both repeaters). If you press 3 and hear a high beep, you'll
be controlling the B receiver, and if you hit your PTT, you'll be
transmitting on 449.875, assuming you have a plus offset. If you press
3 and hear a low beep, the receiver you're controlling is the A band,
and if you pres your PTT, you'll be transmitting on 146.340 (assuming
a negative offset). Both receivers can be set for memory tuning or VFO
tuning independent of each other; in other words, you can have your B
band on a VFO and your A band in memory mode, or vice versa.

Just to makee things interesting, if your B band is tuned to somewhere
outside a ham band (say, 7.415 MHz, just for fun) and your A band is
on a ham repeater, you should be able to transmit on the ham frequency
of your A band, regardless of which receiver is under active control.

Clear as mud?
