Thanks Steve - worked like a charm.  I think I was expecting to see a drop-down menu in the user-name prompt box - doesn't this happen with Win2000?

Or it is it just additional security?  

I suppose it  makes sense that if there's no name list, passwords would be harder to guess.

  At the prompt just replace Administrator with Visitor and enter the new
  password.  Win2k will default to the last userid used, so Visitor will come
  up the next time you boot.
