When a group of ignorants, selfish, unaware and self-centered people run the
affairs of a Nation,it is rather unfortunate that people of such Nations
are faced with a complete deprivation of their civic rights as citizens,
and their fundamental Human rights as human beings. It is such a situation
that the Gambian press is faced with today.
The Jammeh Government should fully understand that the Gambia belongs
to the Gambians but not to the APRC Government.Gambians therefore do not
only have the civic right to freedom of opinion and expression but also a
fundamental human rights as well.According to the United nations Universal
declaration of Human rights:

Article 19.
Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right
includes free
dom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive
and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of
frontiers.

This is a clear manifestation on the part of the Jammeh Government for
their lack of respect and recognition of United Nations chatters which the
Gambia is a part of. It is a breach of International law and Gambians
should bring such a Government to justice. How the hell can a Government
impose such ridiculous fees on the press, especially in a country that is
faced with economic hardship and the people struggling to make ends meet?
Why is it that their are constant death treats on the press and citizens
exercising their rights? Why cant People in the Gambia express their
opinion about how their own country is run? This are some questions that
Yaya Jammeh and his crew have to answer.
A truly democratic and transparent institution is one that respects
the individual ri
ght to freedom of opinion and expression without any
interference. The violation of this right by the Jammeh Government is a
clear indication of a lot of hidden agendas and issues behind the APRC.Its
about time we have a Government that is serving the interest of the people
and this can only be achieved if people can exercise their right to freedom
of the opinion and expression. We have to be ready for a change.
MAY GOD BLESS THE GAMBIA...... AMEN
