Hi back all-

Well, I solved my own problem after doing some more searching online. It turned out that Knoppix just couldn't get the display right w/o a boot prompt "cheat code" telling it to render at 600x800. I found out the video was working after I hauled the board (sitting in a cardboard box w/homemade momentary switch attached- ;^) P/S, & CD-ROM upstairs to try my 19" monitor with it. It started right up!

I then went to the Knoppix help sites & dredged around for the codes. Entering "fb800x600" at the startup splash screen boot prompt told Knoppix what to do & it booted fine.

I was mainly interested in verifying the motherboard was good as I bought it "refurbed". Taking a chance but it's a tough one to come by & I got it for $68. Newegg said it would be the bare board only- but it shipped in the retail box with everything included- even the little EPIA case badge (now that's complete!).

Thanks for your help & time- hope this info helps someone else down the road,

LT
PS- Knoppix rocks!!!
