Colin,
What OS are you using? You might be able to restore your system to a
previously working state. Need to know before I can help anymore.

Subject: [PCBUILD] Help required

I hope someone can help me with this and my apologies for the length of this
message

Recently due to an unknown problem ( possibly deleted something in error ) I
found myself having to re-install the drivers for my scanner ( Mustek
Bearpaw 1200 ). During installation I am experiencing a problem whereby the
installation process stops and an error message is displayed.
I have contacted the manufacturers for assistance ( copy of email
communications below, which are self explanatory )
They seem to think that something is wrong with my OS, which I doubt very
much as everthing worked fine until I tried to reinstall.
Can anyone help me out

Much appreciated, Colin

Copy of email communication :

Dear Customer,

Dear Customer,

before You install new driver under Win XP delete from Windows directory
Oem(+number)file (for example: Oem0, Oem1 etc. ):

1. Click on "Start" and select "Find" into the fly-out menu. Open the window
"Search Results".
2. Under "What do you want to search for?" select "All files and folders".
3. Under "All or part of the File name" type oem.
4. Under "Look in" select the windows hard disc.
5. Under "Advanced settings" set following settings:
    "Search system folders",
    "Search hidden files and folders",
    "Search subfolders".
6. Start up the searching.

Delete all finded oem(+number) inf files only in Windows\Inf.
oem0.inf, oem0.pnf, oem1.inf, oem1.pnf ....
Those oem files given wrong information during the recognizing of USB
scanner.

Remove the scanner from USB port.
Install the Win XP driver.
Restart the computer.
Take a look under "Start"/Program".
You must here see "BearPaw 1200 "/ "Uninstall".
Plug-in the scanner in USB port.
Don't use USB hub.
The scanner must be recognized.

The missing signature or logo has nothing to do with the scanner
performance.

After the correct installation the scanner have to appear into the
"Device-Manager" under "Imaging Device" like "BearPaw 1200".

If You see into the "Device-Manager" the file "USB-Device" then You should
recognize the file.

Click the file "USB-Device" into the "Device-Manager" (right hand side of
mouse) and click "Update diver" in the "Context menu" (left hand side of
mouse). In the next window You see two options. Recognize the device
automatically.

Best regards
Mustek Support

Subject: Installation Problem

I am trying to reinstall my Bearpaw 1200 Scanner on my system, Windows XP
Professional
I have followed the instructions on your website for doing this, downloaded
and installed all drivers in the order stated, with everything having gone
ok up until the point where I reconnect the scanner.
At this point windows finds the new hardware but as it begins installing
the drivers I get a message which pops up saying the following
" some files on MUSTEK with LM9831 Installation disc are needed, insert
MUSTEK with LM9831 Installation disc into the drive selected below" and then
click ok"

The file name that it is looking for is N9831usd

I have searched my PC and this file name is not found
