Assistive Technology Expert to Speak at BLN Events in Mountain View and
Evanston, WY
PITTSBURGH, PA-Jim Homme, a leading expert in assistive technology and
configuring JAWS for Windows, will speak at two Business Leadership Network
(BLN) events on Thursday, October 16, 2003 in Evanston, Wyoming. The first
BLN event is the Bridger Valley Awards Breakfast from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM at
the Pony Express, 25 7th Street in Mountain View, WY and the Evanston Awards
Luncheon from noon to 1:30 PM at the Beeman-Cashin Building located in Depot
Square in Front View, Evanston WY. His topic for both events will be "Why
Hire People with Disabilities?"
Jim Homme is an information technology professional who has been employed by
Bender Consulting Services, Inc. (BCS), a for profit technology consulting
firm based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for the last seven years. BCS
specializes in hiring professionals with disabilities in the areas of
information technology, general business, human resources, and
finance/accounting. As the Manager of Assistive Technology for BCS, Jim has
consulted in the assistive technology area for prestigious companies such as
Compaq and West Group. Prior to obtaining his 15 years of information
technology experience, Jim received a certificate of computer programming in
1988 from the Institute of Advanced Technology in Pittsburgh, PA. Jim's
technology experience includes Java, Oracle, Lotus Notes, PowerBuilder,
UNIX, COBOL, and IBM mainframe. Additionally, he was graduated in 1981 with
a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Duquesne University,
Pittsburgh, PA. He worked until 1987 as a professional musician, traveling
in the continental United States.
One of Jim's professional goals is to make a difference in the lives of the
13 million working-age people with disabilities, by influencing and
consulting with government and private companies to make software and web
technology usable for people with disabilities.
