Monday, October 18. Sir Brian Donnelly, a prominent
British diplomat who has had important postings in
Europe and Zimbabwe will be visiting the School of
Journalism and Mass Communication. He will give a
talk on press-policy relationships in times of crisis,
particularly as he dealt with Milosovic in Yugoslavia and
Mugabe in Zimbabwe. Title to be announced. Location

The Council on Library and Information Resources is
offering fellowships funded by The Andrew W. Mellon
Foundation to support dissertation research in the
humanities in original sources. Applications
postmarked by November 15, 2004 (November 1,

considered for about 10 awards to be announced by
April 1, 2005, for use beginning between June 1 and
September 1, 2005.
The United States Institute of Peace is accepting

WAGE Grants for Globalization and International
Economy Research. The Center for World Affairs and
the Global Economy (WAGE) invites all University of
Wisconsin Madison faculty to apply for a multi-year
collaborative grant to increase understanding of
globalization and the international economy. WAGE will
award up to $125,000 to each of three separate
collaboratives, with the awards spread over a three-

hiring an assistant professor of Linguistics and African

Van to New Orleans for the African Studies Association
(ASA) conference. African Studies Program supports a
van for students who wish to attend the conference.
