ATLANTA - Jun 05, 2002 - The Home Depot, the world's largest home
improvement retailer, today announced plans to partner with the U.S.
Department of Labor and Employment and Training Administration in support
of its National Business Partnership, a program providing services to
unemployed or dislocated workers seeking jobs.

The Department of Labor will recruit, screen and refer applicants preparing
to join Home Depot. In addition, Home Depot will test a long-term strategy
of working with state and local workforce boards in selected markets
providing future opportunities to unemployed workers.

"I am confident in the Department of Labor's high level of commitment to
serving America's workers by connecting them with available jobs," said
Dennis Donovan, executive vice president, human resources, The Home Depot.
"We feel engaging in the National Business Partnership will provide our
company with a broad range of qualified candidates with diverse
 backgrounds."
