Go into device manager to highlight and remove the device. If it is just a CD-ROM it will not have any software for you to install or remove. Then do a shutdown/restart. Win Me should reinstall it. Another possibility is that something was added to your computer and is conflicting with your CD's IRQ. Check again in device manager, properties, settings.
