I sent this to the list since many of you will be traveling in the next
week and time was urgent.

I went to the FAA website and was referred to the Transportation
Security Administration (TSA) website:
http://www.tsa.dot.gov/public/index.jsp
This website contains useful advice for travelers with disabilities,
diabetics, pacemakers, religious restrictions/objects, service dogs,
etc.

Apparently the security screening is under the TSA not the FAA.
According to their website:
>Avoid packing food and drink items in checked baggage.

Plus I suggest that any of us that travel with food should contact them
at the following (whether you are traveling at this time or not--the
more phone calls/emails they get the more they will realize this is a
significant problem that needs more thought):
>Contact TSA
>If you have questions about any of these procedures, please call the >Consumer Response Center toll-free at 1-866-289-9673 during the >following hours of operation (All times are Eastern Standard Time):
>
>Monday thru Friday, 8 am - 10 pm
>Saturday, Sunday and Holidays, 10 am - 6 pm
>
>You may also e-mail us at [log in to unmask] The Transportation >Security Administration (TSA) takes all input very seriously and will >respond promptly and appropriately to all complaints or comments.
