I flew on these from huntsville to atlanta quite a few times. Not a bad
plane at all.

 It's actually a DeHavilland Dash-7.  Yep, it's a turboprop commuter.  I
loved to fly on them because there was no door between the cabin and cockpit
(used to be that way, at least) and you could get a good visual out the
cockpit windows.  Years ago I used to take a shuttle from Parkersburg, W.Va.
to Washington National on Piedmont (R.I.P.).  We'd get up close and personal
with the monuments--a great view.  After that Air Florida DC9 dove into the
Potomac they stopped moved the glideslope a bit so that you didn't get that
"roller-coaster" approach.  That was an absolute hoot in a small plane
(anyone besides me remember that approach--laying the craft on its side
around the Washington monument?  You could tell all the first-timers on the
plane by the wild-eyed "we're all gonna die!" look!
