Bobby,

It's called a Raptor. Uses a small gas engine and can stay aloft over a
battlefield for quite some time due to its miserly fuel use. He's a classic
terrorist, in my book. He's killed fewer people in two weeks than have died
from car accidents in the 4 million strong D.C. area, yet look at the panic
he's induced. That's the whole idea behind terrorism--create panic far out
of proportion to the actual danger.

As far as his being a "sniper", the truth is that most of the shots have NOT
been in the 500-700 meter range, as the press originally reported, but 150
yards or less. Still, it gives the "ugly guns" crowd something to make hay
over. I read some "talking head" in Atlanta Journal-Constitution say that
24,000 people were killed in the US by firearms last year. When pressed,
she admitted she made the number up, yet do you think the paper reprimanded
her or made a retraction? All this "yellow journalism" over Iraq, Al Queada
and the D.C. shooter just turns my stomach.

Ken, if the AJC is all you have to read for a newspaper, I feel your pain.

-Kyle

I was interested in the aircraft reported to be used for surveillance.
First,
it is Army, not Air Force. Next, it's a prop job, not a jet. It's very
different from the SR-71, or the other plane with the rotating disk(I forgot
the name). They used the age-old example of reading headlines of a newspaper
in Red Square, which we could do in the '70's! I was at one time a fan of
the
SR-71 and knew what it could do. The new plane must be for troop reconn.
