I'm hoping someone can help this person. She's using a PowerBraille 40
with JAWS 4.5. Please write to her directly, at [log in to unmask]
Thanks.
Rachel
I have this PDF file containing a few tables and am not able to read the
column entries using the up/down arrow in a column or to see the column
headings. I am only able to read from left to right using the advance
forward/backward keys on the PB40. If I use the up/down arrow keys, they
ahve the same effect as the ladvance forward/backward keys on the PB40.

I am not sure i have AR 5.0.5 properly installed. It came with two files
-- one about 10MB and the other about 1MB. After I installed the 10MB
file, AR worked with a regular page PDF file (like the pages of a novel)
where I coulduse the up and down arrows to scroll. But when I tried it on
the tables, I got an illegal exception error in Jaws and got hung up in AR
and had to reboot. After I installed the 1MB file (not sure if that was
the accessibility pack), AR seemed to work better but I still can't read
the table in columns. I've trued turning the virtual cursor off with
insert+Z and switching to line mode from structured mode, but this still
doesn't solve the problem.

There's a newer version of AR, version 5.1. I had that installed but when
I tried to open this PDF file, I was informed that I didn't have the right
version of AR 5.1 to work with screen readers and I needed to download the
right version of AR 5.1 with accessibility. I don't have a cable modem so
it would take a while to download a 13.2MB file. I'm waiting to get AR
5.1 withthe accessibility feature on a cd from a friend and I am in the
meantime asking around to see if there is a way to read a table in AR
5.0.5.

BTW, the jawslite website points to AR 5.1 with accessibility! I wonder
if this means to forget about AR 5.0.5? I do know aR 5.1 came out after
Jaws 4.5 was released so the Jaws scripts in 4.5 will not work with AR
5.1.

Let me know your thoughts about this problem.

thanks,
Barb
