hi,

i am looking for some advice on how to help out my folks.

my parents (mom 59 and dad 68) are struggling with health issues,
primarily obesity (my dad is easily 100 lbs overweight, my mom maybe
60 lbs overweight) but also my dad has high blood pressure and i am
sure is close to being diagnosed diabetic.

their diet includes lots of bread, dairy, sugar, etc. i have been
experimenting with paleo for the past 6 months or so, and haven't
really mentioned it to them because whenever i talk about diet, they
tend to cover their ears. which is pretty much my fault because i
used to be a militant vegan. :)

anyway, their doctor is advising them to go to a diabetic clinic and i
think they are going to go on Weight Watchers or similar kind of diet
(my mom was on weight watchers in the 70s). i was talking to my mom
today and i think she is getting worried about her health and i think
she might be open to hearing about the paleo diet even though i know
it is radical for them to get away from sugar and bread.

can someone advise the best one or two articles or websites i could
show them? i was thinking about the "Low Fat Hoax" article-- is that
one of the best ones? I am considering cordain's book but i think a
full length diet book will scare them away.

thanks,`

Jana
